LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team will travel to Huntington, W. Va., on Friday afternoon to face Marshall at 12 p.m., the Wildcats’ first road match of 2013.
The Wildcats enter Friday’s match 2-0, following decisive wins over Morehead State and Belmont. Kentucky swept the Eagles, failing to drop a set in singles play, en route to a 6-0 win and dropped just two sets in its 6-1 win over the Bruins.
Freshman Nadia Ravita led the Wildcats in their first two wins of the season, recording two wins in the No. 1 singles slot to go along with a 2-0 record in the No. 1 doubles slot when paired with junior Caitlin McGraw.
Huntington native Stephanie Fox will return home to compete with a 2-0 singles record on the year. The sophomore has yet to drop a game in her two wins.
The Thundering Herd enter Friday’s contest 2-1, opening the season with wins over Eastern Michigan and Morehead State before falling 4-3 to West Virginia.
Overall, Kentucky is 12-2 in head-to-head contests with Marshall, including the Wildcats’ 5-2 win when the programs squared off in 2012.
