Their biggest contributions came at the foul line as the much-hyped freshmen combined to convert 20 of 25 free throws to help the Wildcats (3-1) fight back several times against the Eagles (3-2) before steadily pulling away in the second half.

Julius Mays added 11 points, and freshmen forward Nerlens Noel and Kyle Wiltjer each had nine. Noel also had 11 rebounds and three blocks.

The win stretched UK’s NCAA-leading home winning streak to 54.

Scouting LIU Brooklyn

LIU Brooklyn enters the matchup with the Wildcats having dropped three-straight to begin the 2012-13 season under the direction of firstyear head coach Jack Perri. The Blackbirds have faced three similar opponents as UK, but have dropped all three meetings to fellow Barclays Center Classic squads.

Jamal Olaswere leads the Blackbirds with 22.3 points per game and a team-high 7.3 rebounds. Jason Brickman has dished out 26 assists in three games for an average of 8.3 per game.

Kentucky owns an all-time 2-1 record all-time against the Blackbirds with all three meetings coming between 1939-1947. UK won the last matchup between the two teams by a score of 66-62 in March of 1947.
