San Antonio, Texas – On the final day of the Alamo Invitational, the University of Kentucky women’s golf team broke a school record by carding a 6-under-par, 282 on Tuesday, finishing the tournament in sixth place at 11-over. The Wildcats started the day in 10th place, before charging on the final day against the 15-team field and concluding their fall season on a strong note.

Ashleigh Albrecht, Liz Breed and Cylia Damerau carded a 2-under-par, 70, while Sarah Harris shot a career-low even par and Heather Lott was 4-over on the day.

“I am proud of the team for ending the season with such a strong finish,” head coach Golda Johansson Borst said. “To break the low round record as a team is a great accomplishment and it shows the potential of our ability to put up some red numbers. We will use this round as motivation in the offseason to get ready for next semester.”

Albrecht, who started on hole No. 12, recorded three birdies on the afternoon and tallied just one bogey. The senior’s 2-under-par effort improved her score to 2-over for the tournament and placed highest among all Wildcats, in a tie for 22nd.

Breed tied her career-low round of 70 that she set last season, by posting four birdies on Tuesday. The Waynesboro, Pa., native came out on fire, sinking birdies on three of her first six holes. The junior finished the event at 5-over and was tied for 30th.

Damerau also equaled a career-low round of 70 that she set in the first tournament of the fall at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational. The freshman was 1-over through the first six holes before posting four birdies the rest of the way. Damerau concluded the invitational tied for 25th at 3-over-par, setting a 54-hole career low of 219.

The freshman Harris continued the career day for the Cats by turning in the best performance of her young UK career. Following an early double bogey, the Hermitage, Tenn., native strung a stretch together where she recorded four birdies between holes three through eight to finish at even par. Harris was tied for 44th at 10-over for the tournament.

Lott birdied her second hole of the day and ended up at 4-over on the afternoon. The senior completed the tournament at 6-over-par, tying a career 54-hole low of 222 and finished the event in 35th place.

The Alamo Invitational wrapped up the fall season for the women’s golf team, which included a team victory at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational, eighth place finish at the Mason Rudolph Invitational and tied for 12th at the Tar Heel Invitational.

The Wildcats head into the offseason for a few months before getting back into action Feb. 10-12 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. For more information on the University of Kentucky women’s golf team please visit UKathletics.com.
