CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team concluded their play at the 2012 Tar Heel Invitational on Sunday, finishing tied for 12th with a final score of 46-over-par. The Wildcats recorded their lowest round of the tournament with a 12-over-par, 300. The field was loaded with competitive teams, including 13 schools in the nation’s top-50 according to www.golfstat.com.
Junior Liz Breed was the high finisher for the Cats, placing tied for 32nd at 9-over-par. Breed recorded two birdies on the back nine, carding a 6-over-par on the final day.
Cylia Damerau posted a final round of 3-over-par to conclude her week, finishing tied for 38th at 11-over. The freshman tallied two birdies on Sunday and converted an eagle on the par 5 third hole to highlight her afternoon.
Senior Betsie Johnson completed the event with her best round of 1-over-par, 73. Johnson recorded a team-high three birdies on the day with all of them coming on the front nine. She concluded the tournament at 11-over and was tied for 82nd
Sarah Harris also had a strong finish on Sunday with a 2-over-par, 74. The freshman was tied for 47th overall at 13-over. Fellow freshman Meghan McDougall was tied for 73rd at 19-over.
