LEXINGTON, Ky. – After charting wins in each of its two opening Southeastern Conference games versus No. 13 Florida and undefeated Mississippi State over the weekend, the University of Kentucky women’s soccer team earned its first-ever ranking under head coach Jon Lipsitz, checking in at No. 18 in Tuesday’s Soccer America poll. It is the highest ranking for UK since late in the 2006 season when the Cats checked in at 15th.

UK is off to a flying 7-1-0 start, picking up wins against two top-15 opponents in No. 13 Florida and No. 12 Louisville on consecutive weekends. On Sunday afternoon, the Cats recoded their highest offensive output of the season, charting three goals in 90 minutes to collect the 3-0 win.

UK is one of four SEC teams ranked in the poll released Tuesday, joining No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 19 Missouri and No. 24 Tennessee. The four SEC teams ranked was the second-most of any conference, only sitting behind the Atlantic Coast Conference who placed seven in the top 25.

The Wildcats continue SEC action this weekend when they make the trip to Arkansas and LSU. UK will open the weekend with Arkansas on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. ET and close out the weekend Sunday at LSU for a 2:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Also, a reminder to fans that the jerseys worn by UK players in Sunday’s Kick Cancer match are currently being auctioned off at UKathletics.com/auction.
