LEXINGTON, Ky. – Racing against the best athletes in the world under the age of 20, Kentucky rising sophomore Devinn Cartwright finished sixth in her heat in the 100-meter hurdles, and 24th overall in the semifinals of the 400m hurdles at the International Association of Athletics Federation World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain on Friday.

Cartwright finished 37th in the first round of the 100m hurdles, sixth in her heat, with a time of 14.21. In the afternoon, Cartwright finished 24th in the semifinals of the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.88.

The Bahamas native advanced to the semifinals of the 400m hurdles Thursday with a time of 1:00.72, bettering her best time of the collegiate season by 1.64 seconds. Cartwright finished third in her heat, which automatically qualified her to the semifinals.

The IAAF World Junior Championships, which features 180 countries, is being held from July 10-15 at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium in Barcelona. Cartwright’s finishes in the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles close out her competition schedule at the IAAF World Junior Championships.
