LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team wrapped up the 2012 SEC Championships Sunday afternoon, shooting a 34-over-par 322 in the final round. The Wildcats finished the weekend in ninth, shooting an 82-over-par 924 in three rounds of competition at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.  

Senior Ashlee Rose paced the Wildcats, finishing in a tie for 12th at 14-over-par 230. Rose shot an 8-over-par 230 in the final round of the Championship, sinking two birdies. With 10 pars in the final round, Rose finished the weekend with 35 pars, the second most by an individual.

Auburn kept hold of the top spot through the final round, winning the 2012 SEC Championship with a 52-over-par 916. Auburn shot a 25-over-par 313 in the final round, clinching their program’s ninth SEC Championship. Arkansas, playing on their home course, finished the weekend in second, one stroke off the lead at 53-over-par 917. Alabama placed third at 58-over-par 922 with Florida in fourth at 61-over-par 925 and Georgia rounding out the top five at 69-over-par 933.

Patricia Sanz of Auburn claimed the individual 2012 SEC Championship, shooting a 5-over-par 77 in the final round to finish the weekend at 3-over-par 219.  Marina Alex of Vanderbilt finished just one stroke behind Sanz, shooting a 5-over-par 77 on Sunday that left her at 4-over-par 220 on the weekend. Sanz led the field with 36 pars to go along with nine birdies and an eagle while Alex sunk 11 birdies with 30 pars.

Junior Betsie Johnson shot a 10-over-par 82 in the final round, finishing the weekend at 21-over-par. Johnson sunk one birdie on Sunday to go along with seven pars, increasing her weekend total to 27. Sophomore Liz Breed finished her weekend at 22-over-par 238 after shooting an 8-over-par 80 on Sunday. With 29 pars on the weekend, Breed finished in a tie for 32nd

Junior Heather Lott matched her second round score, shooting an 8-over-par 80 in her final round at Blessing Golf Club. Lott’s weekend score of 28-over-par 244 left her in a tie for 42nd. Junior Ashleigh Albrecht sunk one birdie on the day to finish the final round at 14-over-par 86. Albrecht finished the weekend at 33-over-par 249 to leave her in a tie for 50th.
