Polytan Invitational Day One Results
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Led by sophomore Brandon Bagley and freshman Devinn Cartwright, who each recorded career-best times in the men’s and women’s 400-meter hurdles, respectively, the Kentucky men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up day one of the Polytan Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., on Saturday.
Bagley, a sophomore from Elizabethtown, Ky., finished in third-place in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 53.93. Bagley’s time betters his previous career-best time of 54.65, which he has run twice, including last week at the Texas Roadhouse Border Battle Kentuckiana in Louisville, Ky.
Cartwright, a freshman from the Bahamas, also recorded a career-best time in the 400m hurdles, finishing in fourth at 1:02.46. Cartwright’s time Saturday is over two seconds faster than her previous career-best of 1:04.94 set at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., earlier this year.
Kentucky got a victory Saturday evening, as the 4x100m relay team of sophomores Julie Nunn and Kayla Parker, and freshmen Keilah Tyson and Tamyah Pipkin clocked in a 45.62. The Wildcats’ time was just 0.34 seconds behind their season-best time set last week at the Border Battle Kentuckiana.
Freshman Terence Boyd finished second in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 14.28m/46-10.25.
The Kentucky men and women had strong showings in the 1,500m runs. The men’s side was led by career-best times from sophomore Adam Kahleifeh and junior Walter Luttrell. Kahleifeh finished seventh with a 3:50.14, while Luttrell finished ninth with a time of 3:51.98. On the women’s side, sophomore Allison Peare finished seventh with a career-best time of 4:27.07, while junior Katy Achtien had a career-best time of 4:43.08 and sophomore Anna Bostrom had a season-best time of 4:44.35.
