LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team is set for two of its last three regular-season, Southeastern Conference showdowns. The Wildcats will travel south to Mississippi to face-off against No. 62 Mississippi State and No. 16 Ole Miss. Kentucky will begin its weekend with Mississippi State at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, followed by a match against Ole Miss at Noon ET on Sunday.
The Wildcats are coming off of a weekend filled with incredible competition. Kentucky hosted two highly talented SEC teams, No. 7 Georgia and No. 19 Tennessee. While Kentucky could not pull out the wins, many Wildcats challenged their singles and doubles opponents, nearly picking up wins in both matches.
A highlight of the weekend came from junior Jessica Stiles and sophomore Khristina Blajkevtich. Against Georgia, the two took on the 8th-ranked doubles team consisting of Chelsey Gullickson and Nadja Gilchrist. Stiles and Blajkevitch swiftly took the match, 8-4.
The Cats hope to build upon their strong play as they prepare for two more tough opponents. The Wildcats expect another weekend filled with highly competitive play as Mississippi State and Ole Miss both boast ranked doubles and singles players.
