LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team is set for its final home matches of the season. The Wildcats will face No. 7 Georgia and No. 19 Tennessee for a Southeastern Conference weekend showdown. The match versus Georgia begins a 5 p.m. ET on Friday with the match against Tennessee to follow on Sunday at noon ET.
Kentucky is coming off of a tough weekend with losses to Auburn and Alabama. The team looks to redeem itself against familiar foes.
Stephanie Fox will be a key player for the Cats as she comes off of a weekend of extremely competitive play. Against Auburn, she tabbed a singles win for UK. She battled for the victory with a final result, 5-7, 7-6 (6),1-0 (10). Versus Alabama, the freshman found herself in another tight competition against Alex Clay. The two fought for every point, but Clay ultimately took the match in a tiebreaker. The two posted a final score of 7-6, 4-6, 1-0 (5).
With Georgia and Tennessee boasting ranked doubles and singles players, Kentucky is prepared for a challenging weekend. The Cats hope to finish strong at home.
The first fifty fans at Friday’s match against Georgia will receive a free UK Women’s Tennis shirt.
