LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s and women’s track and field teams will begin their outdoor seasons Thursday and Friday in Tampa, Fla., at the Bulls Invitational held at the USF Track and Field Stadium.

The meet, featuring 24 schools, including Kentucky, will begin Thursday with the women’s hammer throw at 3 p.m. and the men’s hammer throw following at 5:30 p.m. The remainder of the meet will start Friday with field events beginning at 9:30 a.m., and running events at 2:30 p.m. All times are Eastern.

Kentucky will look to build off its indoor season that saw the men’s team finish eighth in the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships with 38 points, and the women’s team finish 12th with seven points.

Senior Terri-Ann Grant will compete in the women’s high jump at 2 p.m. Grant enters Friday’s competition coming off a ninth-place finish in the high jump at the indoor NCAA Championships. Grant’s mark earned her second team All-America honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Luis Orta, who was named the 2012 SEC Men’s Runner of the Year for the indoor season will not compete at the Bulls Invitational. Orta has exhausted his eligibility in indoor track, but is just a junior in outdoor track and field.

The Kentucky women’s team finished in a tie for 60th at last year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships. The Wildcats earned two points from then-senior Jenna Martin in the 400-meter dash. The men’s team finished in a tie for 41st at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships, as senior thrower Colin Boevers recorded five points with a fourth-place mark in the discus.
