Kentucky doesn’t open play in the Southeastern Conference Tournament for another 24 hours, but the Big Blue Nation is already descending on New Orleans.I am traveling with John Calipari and the Wildcats this postseason and we arrived in the Crescent City Wednesday evening. The team immediately headed to New Orleans Arena for a shoot around to get a feel for the building they’ll play in on Friday at 1 p.m. ET. Before that game, UK will be wearing this t-shirt in support of Kentucky Cares. Click here for more information on how you can help the effort to aid those affected by last week’s severe weather.Upon arriving at their hotel after shooting around, the Cats ate a team meal before having a little free time to walk around the city.I had a chance to see a little bit of New Orleans last night as well – it’s my first trip here – and UK fans already significantly outnumbered those of any other SEC school. That majority only figures to increase as the Cats’ opener approaches.Today, the team ate breakfast at the hotel and has some downtime before a practice this afternoon. After practice, Calipari will be available to the media. I’ll have video of their comments this evening as well as a story. In the meantime, I’m heading to the arena to watch UK’s two potential opponents for tomorrow, Arkansas and LSU, face off.For real-time coverage of the SEC Tournament, make sure you’re following @UKAthleticsNews. I’ll be tweeting photos, score updates and more.
