LEXINGTON, Ky. – It has all come down to this for University of Kentucky senior high jumper Terri-Ann Grant, as she will represent the Wildcats at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Grant will compete at the championships, held in Nampa, Idaho, on Friday, after clearing a career-best jump of 1.82m/5-11.50 earlier this season. The NCAA Championships are being held at Jacksons Indoor Track at the Idaho Center from March 9-10, and are being hosted by Boise State University.

Grant recorded her best jump of the indoor season in her first meet, the Rod McCravy Memorial held in Lexington, Ky., at the Nutter Field House. Grant entered the competition with a personal-best indoor high jump mark of 5-08.00 set at the Southeastern Conference Championships in 2011. The Kingston, Jamaica native cleared each of the first three heights on her first attempt. She then clipped the bar on her first attempt at the 1.79m/5-10.50 mark, but cleared it on her second try to move up to 1.82m/5-11.50. With the event down to two competitors, Grant sealed up first place by clearing 5-11.50, the second-highest mark in program history. Grant finally bowed out on the NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 1.85m/6-00.75, which would have been both a program record and a meet record.

Grant finished fourth in the women’s high jump one week later at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational. She didn’t compete again until the SEC Championships, where she placed seventh with a mark of 5-10.50. Grant’s mark at the championships earned the Wildcats two points.

The women’s high jump is scheduled to begin Friday at 10 p.m. ET. Live results of the meet can be found at NCAA.com. Grant’s mark is tied for the 14th best mark in the country.
