Darius Miller was named the captain of the “All-Glue” team by SI.com. (Chet White, UK Athletics)

Darius Miller has been the sixth man for the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats for most of his senior season, but coaches from around the Southeastern Conference have seemingly been on a campaign to give the Maysville, Ky., native his due. He has been called “the fiber that holds that team together” by Mississippi State’s Rick Stansbury, “the most valuable player against our team” by Georgia’s Mark Fox and, most commonly, UK’s “glue guy.”The last of those titles is now official.SI.com unveiled its “All-Glue” team on Tuesday and Miller is the captain of the seven-member unit.”Miller may be overshadowed in most places, surrounded as he is by all those one-and-done lottery picks, but there is one venue where a player of his ilk casts the biggest shadow of all,” Seth Davis writes. “For his clutch shooting, his toughness, his maturity, his versatility, and most of all his passion for doing whatever it takes to make Kentucky a winner, Darius Miller has been selected as the captain of SI’s 13th annual All-Glue team.”Miller has come off the bench in all but 10 of UK’s 31 games this season, but that hasn’t precluded him from making some of the season’s biggest plays in the clutch. In recent wins over Vanderbilt (twice) and Mississippi State, Miller was quiet for the majority of the game only to explode in the final 10 minutes to lead his team to victory. He tallied a combined 26 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal in 28:30 of clutch time in those three games. On the season, Miller is averaging 10 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists to cap a decorated four-year career. He has played in all 143 of UK’s games the last four years and ranks in the top 50 in school history in points, assists, steals, blocks, free-throw percentage, 3-pointers and 3-point percentage. If UK reaches the finals of the SEC Tournament and the national championship game and Miller plays in every game the rest of the way, he will break Wayne Turner’s record for most games played as a Wildcat and tie Deon Thompson’s NCAA record of 152.The honor is the second in two days for Miller. On Monday afternoon, Miller was named to the SEC Community Service team for his charitable work with organizations like God’s Pantry, the Ronald McDonald House, the UK Children’s Hospital and Samaritan’s Feet.
