LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky men’s distance runners Luis Orta and Walter Luttrell each competed in the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on Friday in hopes of earning a qualifying time for the NCAA Championships.
Orta, the Southeastern Conference Men’s Runner of the Year, finished ninth with a time of 14:08.52, while Luttrell, a junior, ran a 14:33.08 to finish 13th.
On Saturday, freshman Keilah Tyson and sophomore Kayla Parker will compete in Birmingham, Ala., at the Alabama High Tide Qualifier. Also, freshmen Terence Boyd and Joanne Imbert, as well as senior Terri-Ann Grant, will compete at the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier in Blacksburg, Va.
The Alex Wilson Invitational, Alabama High Tide Qualifier and Virginia Tech Final Qualifier are all last chance meets for Kentucky in hopes of earning a qualifying time or mark for the NCAA Championships which takes place March 9-10 in Nampa, Idaho.
