LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team will travel for the first time this season to take on the Zips of Akron. The match is set to take place in Akron, Ohio at 1 p.m. ET.
This past weekend, Kentucky hosted its final double header of the season, facing Eastern Kentucky and Evansville. With especially impressive performances from Edmée Morin-Kougoucheff, Stephanie Fox and Jessica Stiles, the Cats were able to grab both wins, lifting the team to 8-1 on the season. The Wildcats’ impressive homestretch has currently earned them the top spot in the SEC Eastern Division.
The Cats hope to take their success on the road as they head into unfamiliar territory. UK has yet to face Akron, who is currently 10-0 on the season.
Kentucky will depend on solid performances from all, but especially from the No. 36th-ranked doubles team of Khristina Blajkevitch and Jessica Stiles. The duo was reunited this weekend after Blajkevitch suffered a wrist injury and improved to 3-1 on the season.
Akron will provide Live Stats of the match at http://www.gozips.com/sports/wten/2011-12/releases/20120203n1kzb2 .
