LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s and women’s cross country teams each earned recognition for their hard work off the field by being named 2011 Division I All-Academic Cross Country teams, as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.

The women’s cross country team finished with a 3.47 cumulative GPA, while the men’s team finished with a team GPA of 3.19. The UK women’s and men’s teams each finished with the fifth highest GPA in the SEC.

The Kentucky women finished 12th at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships in Louisville, Ky., while the men’s team finished 16th at the regional.
