LEXINGTON, Ky. – UK freshman Anthony Davis was named the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Davis, a 6-foot-10, 222-pound freshman forward from Chicago, Ill., was named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 16 points, seven rebounds, four blocks, 2.5 steals and two assists in wins at Auburn and at Tennessee. Davis tallied eight blocks on the week moving him to within one block of the UK single-season record after only 18 games. He helped lead the Cats in a come-from-behind wins on the road, scoring game-high 14 points at Auburn and a game-high 18 points at Tennessee. He has scored in double-figures in seven-straight games and eight of the last nine.
The award is Davis’ third this season and the fifth for the Wildcats this season.
Kentucky returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Arkansas at Rupp Arena. Scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. ET tip, the game can be seen live on ESPN.
