LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team announced it’s 2012 spring schedule on Sunday which will include challenges in the non conference and Southeastern Conference, head coach Carlos Drada announced Sunday.

January 12 marks the first day of the season, as the team will begin the first day of play in the Hawaii Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii. The tournament will last until Jan. 14, when the team will return to Lexington for a nine-match home stand.

On Jan. 20, the Wildcats will face Marshall in their first home match at noon ET at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex in Lexington, Ky. Two days later, the team will host Belmont and Morehead State for a double header on Jan. 22.

The following weekend, the Wildcats will play host to the Purdue Boilermakers on Feb. 4 at noon ET and Miami University (OH) at 6 p.m. ET on Feb. 5.

The team will continue the home stand with two weekends of double headers. On Feb. 11, Winthrop and Cincinnati will travel to Lexington to face the Wildcats. Then, on Feb. 18, the Wildcats will host Eastern Kentucky and Evansville.

The team will travel to Akron, Ohio to face the Akron Zips on Feb. 21, then will travel to Bloomington to face Indiana on Feb. 25.

March will mark the beginning of SEC play for the Wildcats. UK will host LSU at the Boone Varsity Tennis Center on March 2 at 5 p.m. ET. Continuing at home, the Wildcats will take on Arkansas at noon ET on March 4.

The team will then travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on South Carolina on March 9. The team will face a quick turn around as they go up against Florida in Gainesville, Fla. on March 11.

While in Florida, the team will play their last non-conference game against the University of Miami on March 15.

Kentucky will then have seven SEC matches in a row to finish out the season. The Wildcats will travel to Auburn, Ala. for their match against Auburn on March 23.

UK will have a three-game stretch at home beginning on March 25 at against Alabama. They will then host Georgia on March 30 and Tennessee on April 1.

The Wildcats will then travel to Starkville, Miss. to take on Mississippi State on April 6. Two days later, the team will face Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss.

The Wildcats will close the regular season in Nashville, Tenn. at Vanderbilt on April 14.

UK will travel to Oxford, Miss. again on April 19 to begin SEC Tournament play. The team could potentially play until April 22.
