LEXINGTON, Ky. – As the postseason soccer awards roll out, Kentucky is well represented on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region team as both freshman Arin Gilliland and senior Kelsey Hunyadi were named All-Region performers.
Hunyadi was a mainstay in the top five of virtually every offensive category in the SEC throughout the season.
She posted career numbers in every category including points (38), goals (14), assists (10) and game-winning goals (4). She finished the season ranked second in UK single history in assists, points and goals and set a new school record for shots in a season with 90.
Gilliland started 15 games this season and tallied four goals, two of which were game-winners, which ranks sixth all-time among UK freshmen. She split her time between the backline and forward.
The Wildcats showed drastic improvement on the field in 2011, the third year of the Jon Lipsitz era. Kentucky made a return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2006 and hosted the first round for the first time since the 1998 season.
