LEXINGTON, Ky. – The UK women’s soccer team made its first return to the NCAA Tournament since 2006 and hosted an NCAA Tournament match for the first time since 1998 and the Big Blue Nation responded.

The Lexington site drew 1,065 fans to see the Wildcats take on Washington State in the first round of the tournament. The attendance number was the third highest among the 32 first round NCAA Tournament games and the highest among all Saturday first round sites.

“Everyone who attended the NCAA match knows what a special atmosphere it was, absolutely electric,” UK head coach Jon Lipsitz said. “Thank you to everyone in the UK athletic department for their efforts and thank you to the Big Blue Nation!”
