LEXINGTON, Ky. – The UK women’s soccer team begins its postseason march on Wednesday, as they travel to Orange Beach, Ala., to make their league-leading 17th appearance in the SEC Tournament.

Entering the tournament as the six-seed, Kentucky (13-6-0, 6-5-0 SEC) will take on the Tennessee Lady Vols (14-5-0, 7-4-0) in the quarterfinal round of the tournament on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. ET.

UK defeated Tennessee earlier this season in Lexington, 1-0 in double-overtime pushing the all-time record between the two schools to 11-9-0 in Tennessee’s favor.

The two teams have met four times in the SEC Tournament, splitting the four meetings 2-2. Their initial meeting was in the 2001 tournament in Baton Rouge, La. where UK defeated UT 4-2. Tennessee got revenge in the 2002 tournament in Oxford, Miss. with a 1-0 overtime win. The Lady Vols made it two in a row in the 2004 tournament in Orange Beach with a 2-0 victory. Kentucky evened the postseason series in 2006 with a 2-0 win in the semifinal round en route to the 2006 tournament championship.

The Wildcats are 12-12-2 all-time in the tournament and 8-5-2 in its first game of the SEC Tournament. Kentucky has won the championship twice, doing so in 1995 and 2006.
