LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky swimming and diving teams will take to the waters on Saturday afternoon in Nashville, Tenn., with a meet featuring Western Kentucky and Vanderbilt.  The first race scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. ET.

The Wildcat women will be taking on their second Southeastern Conference foe in as many weeks, as the Wildcats will be facing off against Vanderbilt, as well as Western Kentucky. The men’s team will only swim against the Hilltoppers of WKU.

“We are expecting are tough fight with WKU,” UK head coach Gary Conelly said. “They are really an up-and-coming team.  Coach Bruce Marchionda has done a great job bringing in talented athletes, and an even better job training those athletes. I don’t think there are any givens in the meet.”

Megan Eppler led the way last week for Kentucky, posting a second-place finish in the 50-freestyle with a time of 23.61 as well as taking home fourth place overall in the 100-freestyle. In the 100-freestyle, Eppler posted a career-best 51.27.

Christa Cabot was the leader for the diving teams last week on the women’s side, as Cabot placed fourth overall in the one-meter dive, posting a score of 265.40. Cabot alsofinished in the top ten in the three-meter dive with a 260.25. 

Tyler Reed will lead the men’s team for Kentucky after claiming a first-place finish in the 100-freestyle. The Wildcats men’s divers will look to sophomore Greg Ferrucci and John Fox to lead the way, just one week after Fox claimed second in theone-meter diving competition in Knoxville.

“Most of the races are up for grabs. I think it will be a very exciting meet with some very tough challenges.” Conelly added.
