The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team kicked off play today in their annual fall tournament, the UK Invitational. Three wildcats fought through the cold fall day to excel in their singles matches.

Junior Jessica Stiles took on Aleks Dzakula of the University of Evansville, dominating the match to win, 6-1, 6-1. She hopes to continue to play well in her next match against Lynda Xepoleas of Purdue University.

Another strong performance came from sophomore Khristina Blajkevitch, who won her first singles match in straight sets. She defeated Kristina Labeja of Eastern Kentucky Unviersity, 6-2, 6-1.

Sophomore Misha Testerman followed suit, capturing a, 6-0, 6-2 win against Victoria Cran of Morehead State University.

All three wildcats have done well so far in fall tournament play and look to continue to do so in the next round of singles play on Saturday morning.

In doubles play, the wildcats fought hard but could not bring home the wins. Blajkevitch and Stiles came close but ultimately lost, 8-6, in their match against Paulina Los and Monica Pezzotti of Kansas University.

The wildcats will continue play Saturday morning, starting with doubles matches at 9 a.m. ET.
