LEXINGTON, Ky. – Coming on the heels of a first-place finish at the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Fall Invitational, the UK men’s golf team will face its stiffest competition yet as it heads north to Toledo, Ohio, to compete in the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational on Sept. 26-27.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by the University of Toledo, is being played at the Inverness Club (par 71, 7,255 yards) in Toledo, Ohio. Golfers will play 36 holes Monday beginning at 9 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. Tuesday’s round of 18 holes will also begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The impressive 11-team field includes Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Florida, Kent State, Liberty, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, South Alabama and host-school Toledo.

Following the first-place finish last weekend, UK head coach Brian Craig said the Inverness Club would likely be the most difficult course the Wildcats play all year, and that the Wildcats would need to string together three good rounds against the stiff competition.

The Wildcats will send sophomores Cody Martin and Stephen Powers, juniors Joseph Barr and Chase Parker, and senior Mads Kristensen. Sophomore Matthew Anderson, who finished in a tie for third at the UK Bluegrass Fall Invitational, will compete as an individual.

Martin has paved the way thus far for Kentucky, opening the season with back-to-back top-five finishes, including a second-place mark at the UK Bluegrass Fall Invitational. Martin enters the Inverness Intercollegiate with a scoring average of 70.00.

The Wildcats have competed in the Inverness Intercollegiate four times under the direction of Craig, including a victory in 2004. Kentucky last played in the tournament in 2007 when they opened the season in Toledo.
