LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky cornerback Randall Burden and offensive guard Larry Warford have been named game captains for Kentucky’s in-state battle with Louisville on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium at 7 p.m. ET.
Game captains are usually chosen on the basis of performance in the previous game. Burden played a great game for Kentucky against Central Michigan, earning his first interception of the season, while also making five tackles. The interception was a key play in the fourth quarter that sealed the Kentucky victory. It was Burden’s fourth interception of his career.
Warford has played well for the Wildcats this season up front. The junior from Richmond, Ky., helped the Wildcats rush for 230 yards last week against Central Michigan, the most rushing yards by a UK team since totaling 341 rushing yards against Vanderbilt in 2010. Warford has played in 25 career games for UK, making 15 starts.
Burden and Warford will join permanent game captains Danny Trevathan and Stuart Hines at the pregame coin toss.
