LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team, under the direction of seventh-year head coach Carlos Drada, will begin its fall season with two different tournaments. Select members of the team will participate in the Kansas Fall Tournament in Lawrence, Kan., while the rest of the team will play in the Ohio State Fall Tournament in Columbus, Ohio from Sept. 16-18.

Regarding the season as a whole, Drada said, “I am very excited about the schedule that we have put together. It will allow our players to improve and to gain confidence during the fall; and consequently apply this confidence during our conference matches and the postseason.”

The Wildcats will stay at home to host the annual UK Fall Tournament at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex in Lexington, Ky., from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.

For the team’s final fall match-ups, Kentucky will send part of the team to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals in Memphis, Tenn., from Oct. 14-19. The rest of the team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Roberta Allison Tournament from Oct. 14-16.

UK returns six sophomores and one junior. Five freshmen and one sophomore join the team to round out the roster at 13 players.
