LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Southeastern Conference announced the men’s basketball schedule for the 2011-12 season, and there are many tantalizing matchups for head coach John Calipari and the Wildcats.

Kentucky will play a league-leading 12 conference games on national TV (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or CBS), including a date at Vanderbilt on Feb. 11 being visited by ESPN’s College GameDay crew. It marks the third-consecutive year Kentucky will be playing in a game with ESPN’s College GameDay in town. The GameDay crew was in Gainesville, Fla. last season for UK’s game against the Florida Gators, and was in Rupp Arena two years ago for UK’s home game against Tennessee.

The conference slate opens with a home date against South Carolina on Jan. 7 at 4 p.m. ET. After traveling down to Auburn on Jan. 11, the Wildcats will have their first of four consecutive nationally televised conference games on Jan. 14 against Tennessee and new head coach Cuonzo Martin. The game will tip at Noon on ESPN.

Kentucky will face new Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson and his Razorbacks on Jan. 17 for its first of five 9 p.m. tips. The game will be played on ESPN, followed by a home game against Alabama on Jan. 21 and a road game at Georgia on Jan. 24 at 9 p.m.

Calipari and Co., head south to Baton Rouge, La., on Jan. 28 to face LSU, before coming back home Jan. 31 for their second tilt against Tennessee. Kentucky then concludes their season series with South Carolina on Feb. 4 for a 6 p.m. start on either ESPN or ESPN2.

Kentucky’s first game against the defending SEC champion Florida Gators comes on Feb. 7 with a 7 p.m. start time on ESPN. That game will be followed by what is sure to be a highly anticipated matchup against Vanderbilt with ESPN’s College GameDay in attendance.

After an off week, Kentucky will face Ole Miss on Feb. 18, followed by a game in Starkville, Miss., three days later against Mississippi State.

Kentucky’s final three games include a home date with Vanderbilt on Feb. 25 at noon on CBS. Kentucky will honor seniors Eloy Vargas and Darius Miller on Senior Day on March 1 at 9 p.m. against Georgia. Kentucky’s final game of the regular season will be at Florida on March 4 at Noon.

The SEC Tournament will be held in New Orleans this year with the semifinals and championship game being broadcast nationally on ABC. The tournament will run from March 8-11.
