LEXINGTON, Ky. – At the 2011 AT&T National Diving Championships in Los Angeles, University of Kentucky diver Greg Ferrucci continued his impressive meet by finishing third on the men’s one-meter springboard.
Ferrucci, the reigning Southeastern Conference Male Freshman Diver of the Year, qualified for the finals with the fourth-best score in the preliminary/quarterfinal round, registering a 342.70. Ferrucci then posted a score of 371.50 in the finals to finish in third place. His highest-scored dive of the competition was in the sixth and final round when he nailed an inward two-and-a-half somersault tuck which scored over 74 points with the judges.
Meanwhile, Ferrucci’s Kentucky teammate, and fellow sophomore, John Fox dove well, but came up just a few positions shy of qualifying for the finals on the men’s one-meter dive.
Fox, a Littleton, Colo., native, tabbed a final score of 299.40 for his six dives, which put him less than 15 points shy of qualifying for the final round. The top-eight divers from the preliminary round qualified for the finals.
