LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former University of Kentucky diver Lisa Faulkner finished in ninth place in the semifinals of the women’s 10-meter platform Wednesday at the AT&T Diving Championships at Spieker Aquatics Center in Los Angeles, advancing to the platform finals Saturday.
Faulkner, who closed out her career with the Wildcats in the spring, finished 14th in the preliminaries with a score of 252.15, advancing to the semifinals. Faulkner improved her score in the semifinals, moving to ninth place with a 262.50 mark.
Faulkner will compete again Thursday in the preliminaries/quarterfinals of the women’s one-meter springboard. The finals for the one-meter springboard will occur later that day.
Also competing Thursday is Kentucky sophomore Greg Ferrucci. The Southeastern Conference Male Freshman Diver of the Year will begin competition with the preliminaries/quarterfinals of the three-meter springboard. The semifinals of the three-meter occur later that day.
Ferrucci and sophomore John Fox will compete Friday on the men’s one-meter springboard, with the finals of the one-meter springboard coming later Friday.
On the platform and three-meter boards there is a preliminary round with the top-18 scores advancing to the semifinals. In the semifinals, the divers start again at zero points with the top-12 divers advancing to the finals where they will once again start back at zero. On the one-meter board there is only a preliminary/quarterfinal round with the top 12 advancing to the finals. Similar to the platform and three-meter, the divers will start again at zero points in the finals of the one-meter.
NBC Sports, in conjunction with sister network Universal Sports, will broadcast the Saturday and Sunday finals live. The national broadcast begins with one hour of live coverage of the women’s platform final on NBC at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, followed by an additional two hours of live coverage of the men’s 3-meter final and women’s synchronized 3-meter final on Universal Sports from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
On Sunday, coverage will feature the men’s platform final on NBC from 3-4 p.m., followed by Universal Sports coverage of the women’s 3-meter and men’s synchronized 3-meter final from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
