LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky divers Greg Ferrucci, John Fox and Lisa Faulkner will travel to the Spieker Aquatics Center in Los Angeles to compete in the 2011 AT&T Diving Championships this week.
The six-day meet is set to begin Tuesday afternoon and finish Sunday afternoon.
Ferrucci, the reigning Southeastern Conference Male Freshman Diver of the Year, will look to add yet another accolade to his impressive résumé when he competes in the three- and one-meter diving championships. Ferrucci hopes to improve on his career-best score of 400.55 score on the three-meter dive and 378.50 on the one-meter dive.
Ferucci, a sophomore, will start off the championships Thursday in the three-meter event, before competing on the one-meter Friday. Fox, a redshirt sophomore from Littleton, Colo., will also compete on the men’s one-meter board.
The top 12 scores from the preliminary rounds will advance to the finals. The men’s one-meter finals take place Friday with the men’s three-meter finals going Saturday.
Faulkner, who closed out her career with the Wildcats in the spring, will also compete in two events this week. The Midlothian, Va., native is set to begin her championships Wednesday in the women’s platform event against 35 other divers, making it the largest competition in the meet. The finals for the women’s platform is Saturday.
Faulkner will also compete in the women’s one-meter dive. The preliminary rounds for the one-meter will take place on Thursday, with the finals taking place later that day.
NBC Sports, in conjunction with sister network Universal Sports, will broadcast the Saturday and Sunday finals live. The national broadcast begins with one hour of live coverage of the women’s platform final on NBC at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, followed by an additional two hours of live coverage of the men’s 3-meter final and women’s synchronized 3-meter final on Universal Sports from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
On Sunday, coverage will feature the men’s platform final on NBC from 3-4 p.m., followed by Universal Sports coverage of the women’s 3-meter and men’s synchronized 3-meter final from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
