LEXINGTON, Ky. — UK women’s golf sophomore Liz Breed and junior Heather Lott are tied for first at the end of the first day of the 2nd annual Hooters Women’s Collegiate Team Championship Presented by the National Golf Coaches Association.
Breed and Lott fired a 4-under par 68 on the first day of the championship being held Aug. 2-4 at Achasta, By Reynolds in Dahlonega, Ga. Also competing for the Cats are senior Ashlee Rose and junior Megan Moir. The Rose and Moir tandem finished at 2-over par for the day and sit in a tie for 13th place.
The two person teams competing are comprised of golfers from the same university. The unique amateur championship format features alternate shot on day one, best ball on day two and combined score of the two players on day three.
With one round finished, the UK team of Breed and Lott is tied for first, shooting a 68 together. Playing alternate shot, the duo finished their first 18 holes with five birdies. The other Kentucky team featuring Rose and Moir finished the round with a score of 74, including two birdies on the day.
The Hooters Women’s Collegiate Team Championship will resume Aug. 3 with the teams playing best ball. Rose and Moir will tee off at 8:45 a.m. ET while Breed and Lott begin their second round at 9:57 a.m.
