LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sophomore Greg Ferrucci won the men’s one-meter diving competition Saturday at the 2011 USA Diving National Preliminaries Zone A in Christiansburg, Va., furthering his already impressive showing en route to competing in The AT&T National Diving Championships.
Ferrucci, a sophomore from Huntersville, N.C., who was named the Southeastern Conference Male Freshman Diver of the Year, entered the finals of the competition in second place with a score of 330.00. The top five divers in each competition qualify for the national championships. Fox entered the finals in eighth place after a score of 296.55 in the preliminaries. Despite raising his score to 302.40, the Littleton, Colo., native remained in eighth place in the finals.
Lisa Faulkner, who concluded her career with the Wildcats in the spring and won the women’s one-meter board competition on Friday, finished in 14th place on the women’s three-meter board on Saturday. Faulkner scored a 213.60.
Competition will continue Sunday with the men’s and women’s platform. The AT&T National Diving Championships will be held at the campus of UCLA from Aug. 6-14.
