LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky junior women’s golfers Betsie Johnson, Heather Lott and Megan Moir were all named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team, as announced by the NGCA office Friday.

Johnson, a junior from Nicholasville, Ky., was named to the Southeastern Conference Fall Golf Honor Roll and was Kentucky’s top finisher in four of the eight events she played. Studying elementary education, Johnson had the second most rounds of par or better on the team in 2011.

Lott posted the second-lowest scoring average on the team this past season with a 76.73. Hailing from Baton Rouge, La., Lott had a very consistent approach on the course during the 2010-11 season, finishing as one of the Wildcats’ top two golfers in seven of the 10 tournaments they played in, including the SEC Women’s Golf Championship. Lott, who studies biology, played in all 30 rounds the Wildcats competed in, the only golfer on the team to do so.

Moir, who won the Marion Miley Invitational at the Lexington Country Club on Friday, was named to the NGCA All-American Scholar Team as well. A Louisville native, Moir was named to the SEC Community Service Team earlier this year, and played in five tournaments with the Cats.

Criteria for selection to the All-American scholar team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with the minimum cumulative GPA being 3.50.

The NGCA is a non-profit organization representing women’s collegiate golf coaches. Founded in 1983, the NGCA represents nearly 500 coaches throughout the country, and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing its members and the student-athletes they represent.
