Women's Soccer

LEXINGTON, Ky. – UK women’s soccer head coach Jon Lipsitz has announced that seniors Jenna Goblirsch, Natalie Horner and Kelsey Hunyadi will serve as team captains for the 2011 season.

“While congratulations are in order for Jenna, Natalie, and Kelsey, they alone cannot lead us to a tremendous 2011 season,” Lipsitz said. “Daily excellence, culminating in championships, has to come from the entire team. Each person will have moments to impact the team and guarantee our success, but without everyone, we cannot be our best.”

Goblirsch, a senior from Elizabethtown, Ky., has started every game she’s played in since she arrived at UK in the 2008 season. She has tallied 27 shots and scored 17 points, including six goals, in 48 career games.

Horner, a transfer from Michigan, saw her first action with the Cats last season. The senior from Upper Arlington, Ohio, totaled 17 points on five goals and a team-high seven assists last season.

Hunyadi, a transfer from Louisville, also saw her first action in blue and white last season. The Dublin, Ohio native led the Wildcats in scoring with 19 points, on a team-high eight goals.

The three seniors helped lead Kentucky back to the SEC Tournament last season, for the first time since the 2007 season.
