Lexington, Ky. – Seniors Keenan Hall and Sharif Webb highlighted day two of the 2011 Sea Ray Relays for the University of Kentucky track and field team, with victories in the triple jump and 800-meter run respectively, Friday in Knoxville, Tenn.

Hall won the men’s triple jump with a personal-best mark of 15.56-meter/51-00.75, for his second win in two weeks. The senior won the long jump title at the Border Battle: Kentuckiana in Louisville on April 9, also recording a career-best leap during that effort. Each of his performances landed him third on UK’s all-time long jump and triple jump lists.

Also with a victory for the Wildcats was Webb, who ran 1:49.32 to secure the win by more than one second. The native of Paramus, N.J., won his second 800m run in two chances this season, after winning with a school-record and Southeastern Conference leading time of 1:47.19 at the Florida Relays. The senior’s record-breaking time also ranks 16th in the current world rankings.

On the women’s side in the 800m run, freshman Allison Peare finished fourth with a career-best time of 2:09.64. Peare cut more than two seconds off her previous-best mark of 2:12.18, which she set at the Border Battle: Kentuckiana last week. With her rapid improvements the freshman inches closer to the 800m freshman school record of 2:06.47, set by Sherry Hoover in 1986.

Peare is a part of a young core of female distance runners that includes sophomore Cally Macumber, an All-SEC performer, freshman Anna Bostrom and Taylor Wendler. Macumber and Bostrom finished fifth and 11th respectively, in the 1,500m run. Wendler finished sixth in the 3,000m run with a time of 10:15.04.

Senior Colin Boevers claimed two top-five finishes during day three’s competition, collecting third in the discus and fourth in the shot put. Boevers, an All-America honoree in the discus throw a season ago, threw 53.44m/175-04 to capture the bronze. In the shot put, the senior made a long toss of 15.97m/52-04.75 to grab fourth.

After missing the entire indoor season, senior Ke’Undra Bishop has come on strong in the outdoor season and finished third in the triple jump Friday. Bishop’s best jump landed her 12.05m/39-06.50 from the launching pad.

The Kentucky track and field team will be back in action tomorrow for the final day of the Sea Ray Relays, with the Wildcats competing in select field events and relays. Find live results at flashresults.com or at UTsports.com.
