IRVING, Texas — A total of 11 members of the Kentucky men’s soccer team were named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
“I’m very pleased for all of the players recognized on the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll,” UK head coach Ian Collins said. “They all clearly understand that the work they are putting in now will reap rich rewards for them in the future. Being successful in the classroom is not about numbers or competitions but about preparing yourself for the rest of your life and maximizing your potential in every area. UK provides outstanding support for its athletes with the CATS Center and these facilities are greatly enhanced by the dedicated people who work there and the tireless efforts they put forth in helping our players understand a clear vision for their future and what they need to do to get there.”
The Wildcats dotted the men’s academic honor roll 11 times, including several of UK’s standout newcomers making the listing. UK’s list of honorees included senior Josh Albers, sophomore Sam Brooks, junior Shaun Deliberato, freshman Craig Heard, sophomore Jacob Kemper, freshman Nick McGregor, freshman Steven Perinovic, sophomore Charles Pettys, freshman Tyler Riggs, freshman Ellis Vienne and sophomore Cameron Wilder.
In order to qualify for the Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
