LEXINGTON, Ky. – After taking down the third-ranked player in the country and posting two solid wins in Southeastern Conference action, University of Kentucky men’s tennis junior Eric Quigley has been named the SEC Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

The native of Pewee Valley, Ky., paced the Wildcats all week long, earning a 6-0 record in singles and doubles combined. The junior defeated three top-15 ranked opponents during the week, including a win over No. 3 Blaz Rola in singles to avenge an earlier loss to Rola in tournament play. In doubles, Quigley teamed up with senior Brad Cox to defeat two top-15 ranked doubles tandems in No. 10 Sebastian Carlsson and Neal Skupski of LSU and No. 13 Matt Allare and Peter Kobelt of Ohio State.

So far this season, Quigley is 19-6 in dual matches and an impressive 41-10 overall. Quigley has earned a combined record of 27-10 this year against players currently ranked in the top 121 in the nation, while earning five wins against players ranked in the top 10. The former All-American in both singles and doubles last year is 114-34 all-time at Kentucky.

Quigley has been ranked in the top five in the nation in singles nearly all season. After starting the spring season with a No. 2 rankings, Quigley has only fallen out of the top five once. The junior currently sits at No. 3.

Kentucky (23-7, 7-3 SEC) will be in action again Saturday at 2 p.m. ET when it concludes its regular-season slate with a key match at No. 29 Vanderbilt. Live scores from the match will be available at UKathletics.com.
