Team Records and Series Notes

•    Kentucky improves their record to 15-11 in 2011, while Tennessee Tech falls to 8-14 on the season.
•    Kentucky now has an all-time record of 6-1. Kentucky has won the last five meetings.
•    This was the first meeting between these two teams since 2006 when UK posted a 7-3 win in Lexington.
•    The Wildcats have won nine of their last 13 games, and 11 of their last 16.
•    UK head coach Gary Henderson is now 74-62 in his coaching career.
•    The Wildcats are now 1649-828-8 in NCAA play all-time.

Team Game Notes

•    UK has a 10-3 record when scoring first in 2011.
•    Kentucky scored a run in each of the final three innings. That was the first time all year that UK has scored at least one run in three straight innings this year.
•    UK is now 13-8 in non-conference games this season.
•    The Wildcats are now 13-3 at Cliff Hagan Stadium in 2011 and 567-325-2 all-time at home.  
•    Kentucky is now 5-0 this season when playing on Tuesday.
•    Taylor Black, Chad Wright, Braden Kapteyn and Thomas McCarthy continued to be the only Wildcats to start all 26 games this season for UK.
•    UK is now 11-7 when facing a starting right-handed pitcher.
•    Kentucky improves to 12-9 during day games.
•    UK is now 5-5 following a loss this season.
•    The win gave Kentucky their third win of the year over the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). The Cats have not lost a game this year vs. an OVC school as they also defeated Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky earlier in the year.
•    This was the fourth time this year Kentucky scored double-digit runs. UK defeated Morehead State 12-3 on Feb. 22, Illinois-Chicago 13-3 on Feb. 26, and Canisius 12-4 on March 23.
•    UK upped its record to 15-1 when leading after the eighth inning.
•    The Wildcats are now sitting at .611 with an 11-7 record in the month of March.
•    Kentucky’s next game is Friday, April 1 as the Wildcats will travel to Columbia, S.C., to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET with the voice of UK Baseball, Neil Price calling the game on WGVN 1580-AM and streamed live on UKathletics.com. Coverage will begin at 6:55 p.m.

Individual Game Notes

•    Taylor Black started his 66th straight game at shortstop which is a team-high for most consecutive games started at one position.
o    Led off the bottom of the third inning with a double to right-centerfield.
o    It was Black’s seventh double of the 2011 season.
o    Later scored on a sacrifice fly to right field by J.T. Riddle. It was his team-leading 22nd run scored on the year.
o    Black also led off the bottom of the sixth with a double.
o    Coupled along with two other hits, Black had a 4-for-4 night.
o    Scored a career-high four runs.
o    Drew a walk and stole two bases.
•    Lucas Witt batted in the lead-off spot for the Cats for the 2nd time in his career.
o    Drew a walk to lead off the game in his first at-bat.
o    Stole his first career base in the bottom of the fifth inning, which led to the Wildcats eighth run of the game.
•    Braden Kapteyn drove in is team-leading 24th RBI in the top of the first inning.
o    Went 3-5 with two RBI’s.
o    Now batting .310 on the 2011 campaign.
o    Had an RBI single to rightfield in the bottom of the sixth.
•    J.T. Riddle drove in two runs on a single to right centerfield in the top of the first inning.
o    Went 2-3 on the game.
o    Had three RBI, which ties a season high in which he has now achieved three times in 2011.
•    Thomas McCarthy has now reached base in a team-high 13 consecutive games.
o    Laced a two-run RBI base hit to left field to plate two runs in the bottom of the seventh
o    Went 1-3 with a walk and two RBI.
•    Luke Maile hit his second home run on the 2011 season.
o    It was Kentucky’s third three-run HR on the season and part of Kentucky’s four-run third inning.
o    Was 1-2 on the night, charting three RBI.
•    Corey Littrell only allowed two hits in a pre-determined three inning start for UK.
o    Earned his team-high fourth win of the year, improving his record on the year to 4-1.
o    Faced 11 batters, striking out three batters.
o    Threw 46 pitches, with 30 of them being recorded as strikes.
•    Alex Phillips faced four batters in a relief appearance and struck out three batters.
o    Threw 19 pitches with 15 of them hitting the strike zone.
o    Improved his ERA on the 2011 season to 2.63.
