LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshmen Meredith Morrow and Marni Venter were successful in their first doubles match together, but the Kentucky women’s tennis team couldn’t top No. 10 Baylor at the Baylor Tennis Center in Waco, Texas, falling 7-0.

Morrow and Venter, who had never played together before in doubles, took down Karolina Filipiak and Abby Stainback of Baylor, 8-4. Morrow and Venter’s win at No. 3 doubles evened the doubles matches at one apiece, but the Cats couldn’t capture the third doubles match and thus dropped the doubles point.

Baylor took each of the six singles matches against the Wildcats and improved to 10-2 on the season. Kentucky drops to 3-11 overall (1-3 Southeastern Conference).

The Wildcats’ six-match road trip continues in Texas on Thursday, competing against TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, at 3 p.m. ET. The Horned Frogs will mark Kentucky’s fourth consecutive road match, and second in as many days.

Senior Megan Broderick, sophomore Jessica Stiles and freshman Caitlin McGraw lead the Wildcats in singles victories with six apiece.
