LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman diver Greg Ferrucci led the Wildcats on day three of the Zone C Diving Championships held in Columbus, Ohio, earning a fourth-place finish on the men’s platform and a career best score of 373.30 in the preliminaries.
Ferrucci, a native of Huntersville, N.C., recorded a score of 373.30 in the preliminaries, the second best mark in UK history, and entered the finals of the competition in fourth place. Ferrucci finished with a score of 714.60 in the finals and earned a fourth-place finish.
Senior Lisa Faulkner continued her strong run in the zone championships by turning in a score of 520.80 to finish in 10th place. Faulkner entered the finals in 12th place, but rallied to move up the charts and get a top-10 result.
Freshman Zack Peterson finished in 15th place on the men’s team, recording a score of 243.95. Peterson’s mark is a career best.
Representing Kentucky on the women’s side in the 2011 women’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships along with Faulkner will be seniors Chatham Penrod, Lindsey Graessle, Kayla Sergesketter and junior Mandy Myers.
Penrod, Graessle, Sergesketter and Myers earned an NCAA A-cut time in an exhibition swim of the 200-medley relay on day two of the Southeastern Conference Swimming Championships in Gainesville, Fla. The quartet clocked in with a time of 1:37.68, a program best mark.
Ferrucci will represent the Cats in the men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships after earning a spot thanks to his performance on the one-meter board in the Zone C Diving Championships.
The women’s championships will take place in Austin, Texas, from March 17-19. The men’s championships will be in Minneapolis, Minn., from March 24-26.
