LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky gymnastics team defeated William and Mary on each event and had an event medalist on each event, including all-around winner Phylicia Reshard to defeat William and Mary 193.850-192.5 and earn its seventh win of the season at William and Mary Hall in Williamsburg, Va., on Friday.
Kentucky (7-8, 1-5 Southeastern Conference) started the night on uneven bars, earning a team score of 48.475. Junior Storey Morris led the Wildcats on the event with a solid score of 9.775 to take home event honors. Sophomore Caitlyn Ciokajlo followed Morris with 9.750, while senior Colleen Williams grabbed a 9.725. Reshard and senior Andrea Mitchell wrapped up the scoring with Reshard earning a 9.7 and Mitchell a 9.525.
The Wildcats also scored a team score of 48.475 on vault, led by Reshard, who posted a 9.8 to earn event honors. Senior Jasmine Minion followed with a 9.75, while Williams continued her consistency on the event with a 9.7. Freshman Audrey Harrison gathered a 9.65 in only her second collegiate vault, while Mitchell scored a 9.575.
UK posted it highest team score of the night on floor exercise with a 48.675. Kentucky was led by the three seniors in the lineup with Minion, Mitchell and Reshard each scoring a 9.825 to take home event honors. Freshman Kayla Sienkowski and Harrison each earned 9.6s to conclude the UK rotation. Freshman Holly Cunningham, participating for the first time this season after returning from preseason injury, scored a 9.1 on the event after falling in her final tumbling pass.
Kentucky wrapped up the night on balance beam, posting a team score of 48.225. Mitchell grabbed event honors with a 9.8, while Reshard posted a 9.775 and Morris and Ciokajlo a 9.7. Harrison and Minion finished off the UK night with each gymnast earning a 9.25 on the event.
Reshard and Mitchell finished first and second, respectively in the all-around with Reshard earning a 39.1 and Mitchell a 38.725.
Kentucky will be in action again Sunday at 2 p.m. ET when it travels to College Park, Md., for a quad-meet with Maryland, North Carolina and George Washington.
