Men’s basketball: One of Kentucky’s best weeks this season led to a pretty big jump in the polls this week. UK checked in at No. 15 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 and No. 16 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll. The Cats are a No. 4 seed in Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology this week, with the possibility of facing a familiar foe — West Virginia — in the second round. Kentucky’s RPI continues to be srong with a ranking of 12th.
Women’s basketball: Not much movement for UK Hoops to end the regular-season polls as UK reached the Southeastern Conference championship before getting blown out by Tennessee. The Cats are No. 17 in the AP Top 25 and No. 16 in the Coaches’ Poll. Charlie Creme, the women’s version of Joe Lunardi, has Kentucky as a No. 4 seed in his Bracketology projections. The women rank 14th in the NCAA’s RPI.
Softball: The Cats aren’t getting a lot of respect in the polls despite a 14-3 record. UK moved up just one spot in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 to No. 23. And somehow, even with a 3-0 week, Kentucky lost votes in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll.
Gymnastics: UK remained No. 26 in the GymInfo national rankings, which are now based on Regional Qualifying Average. The top 36 teams in terms of Regional Qualifying Average make it to regionals, so UK is in pretty good shape heading down the final stretch of the season.
