Individual Game Notes

•    Taylor Black started his 52nd straight game at shortstop which is a team-high for most consecutive games started at one position.
o    Went 4-for-5 including a triple in the first inning in which he scored the Wildcat’s first run of the game.
o    Now has a .347 batting average on the season including five doubles and two triples.
o    Had a stand-up double in the bottom of the fifth inning to score the Cats fourth run of the game.
o    Was only a home-run away from the cycle, as he recorded a single, triple and a double in his first three at-bats.
o    Started the game 4-for-4 until striking out in the eighth inning.
o    Black’s triple was the second of his career and the second this season, a team-best.
o    Black stole two bases in the game, a new career-high, with a steal of home coming as the first of his career.
•    Michael Williams started his first career game at first base.
o    He went 1-for-4 at the plate, recording the Wildcat’s lone hit in the 5th inning.
•    Thomas McCarthy started at third base once again, making him the only Wildcat to start at third base this season. The only other Wildcat to start every game at one position is Black at shortstop.
o    McCarthy is now batting .340 on the season including 16 hits.
o    With two stolen bases today, is now 4-for-4 on the season when attempting to steal a base.
o    Drove in his fourth RBI of the season in the sixth inning to give the Wildcats the 7-1 advantage.
o    Has now safely reached base in all 12 games of his career, leading the team.
•    J.T. Riddle recorded his first career extra-base hit in the bottom of the third inning on a double down the right field line.
o    Had four putouts today, upping his season total to 17 on the season.
o    Continues to be one of only 10 Wildcats have a perfect fielding percentage.
•    Corey Littrell earned his second win of the 2011 season to improve his record to 2-1 on the season.
o    Recorded nine consecutive outs to start the game until allowing a double to embark the Colonel half of the fourth inning. That runner eventually came around to score, making it the first and only earned run for Littrell of the game.
o    Faced 25 batters in seven innings of work, allowing only one run, three hits, while recording five strikeouts, and only two walks, just five over the minimum through seven innings.
o    Threw a career-high 90 pitches on the night, with 56 being recorded as strikes.
o    The seven innings of work was a career-high and his five strikeouts marked a new career-best.
o    Littrell threw first-pitch strikes to 17-of-25 hitters faced.
o    In two starts this year, Littrell owns a 2-0 record and a 2.06 ERA and in two relief appearances this season, Littrell has a 0-1 mark and a 30.86 ERA.
