Feb. 14, 2011

The University of Kentucky gymnastics team has had a good start to the 2011 season, including some history-making performances.

Two weeks ago against No. 3 Georgia, senior Phylicia Reshard took home her first career all-around title, marking the first all-around title for UK in a Southeastern Conference meet since Krystle Cook won the all-around vs. Arkansas in 2007.

Then last week aginast Auburn, Andrea Mitchell won the all-around title, marking the first all-around title for UK on the road in the SEC since Krystle Cook took home an all-around title at Arkansas on Feb. 24, 2006.

Reshard and Mitchell’s all-around titles in back-to-back weeks in SEC play marks the first time UK has taken individual all-around titles in consecutive SEC matches since the 2003 season. (Aronda Primault vs. Georgia 2/14/2003 and Julia Gore vs. Auburn 2/21/2003).

Below is video of both gymnasts routines that earned them all-around honors.
