LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky men’s tennis team will return to the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex for the first time since the end of January, taking on No. 38 Miami (Fla.) and Cleveland State starting at Noon ET on Sunday.
Kentucky (6-2) is coming off back-to-back losses at No. 1 Virginia and No. 16 Illinois. Last Saturday, UK fell 7-0 to the top-ranked Cavaliers before dropping a 4-3 decision Friday night to Illinois. The Wildcats were led in the loss by No. 2 Eric Quigley, who defeated No. 11 Dennis Nevolo in straight sets. Kentucky also got singles wins by sophomore Anthony Rossi and freshman Tom Jomby.
Miami (3-2) is fresh off a 7-0 victory over Troy on Friday night and has wins this year over North Florida and Arizona. The Hurricanes are coached by former Wildcat Mario Rincon, who lettered for the Wildcats during the 1988-89 seasons. Rincon was an All-American in singles for UK during the 1988 season.
