LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky freshman diver Greg Ferrucci posted a score of 328.65 in the men’s one-meter championship to finish in third place and lead the Cats in day one of the three-day Tennessee Diving Invitational.

More than 120 divers from 16 different schools are competing at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center this week in the invitational. The men’s one-meter championship had 54 entrants in the preliminary/quarterfinal round. Ferrucci scored a 309.85 on his six dives in the preliminaries. His freshman teammate, Zack Peterson, a Colorado Springs, Co., native, scored a 185.35 in the preliminaries.

The top 12 divers then moved on to the finals where Ferrucci improved his score and finished in third.

On the women’s side Lisa Faulkner competed against 47 other divers in the three-meter championship. Faulkner scored a 220.85 in the preliminary/quarterfinal round to finish in 25th-place. Emma Brown, a freshman from Bloomfield Hills, Mich., scored a 211.55 in the preliminary/quarterfinal round to finish in 27th-place.

The yearly invite, currently in its third year, will continue Tuesday with the women’s one-meter championship and the men’s three-meter championship. The Tennessee Invitational will conclude Wednesday with the men’s and women’s platform.

The Kentucky swimming and diving teams will head down to Savannah, Ga., Wednesday for a tri-meet with the Savannah College of Art and Design and Limestone College.
