LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky punter Ryan Tydlacka has been named a candidate for the 2010 Ray Guy Award, which identifies the nation’s best punter, the Augusta Sports Council announced.
The junior from Louisville, Ky., has been impressive for Kentucky this season, averaging 45.4 yards per punt, ranking him third in the Southeastern Conference and 16th nationally. Tydlacka has pinned opponents inside their own 20-yard line nine times. He had a great game against Ole Miss, launching a 73-yard punt and averaging a career-high 50.5 yards per punt against the Rebels. For his performance against Ole Miss, Tydlacka was named the National Punter of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
The list of candidates will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists to be named on Nov. 12. Following the semifinalists announcement, a national body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, coaches, media representatives and previous Ray Guy Award winners will vote for the top-three finalists, who will be identified on Nov. 22. The voting body will then cast ballots to select the winner. The presentation of the Ray Guy Award will be featured on The Home Depot College Football Awards live on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Kentucky-Vanderbilt Game Slated for 12:21 p.m. ET Kickoff: The University of Kentucky football game vs. Vanderbilt on Nov. 13 has been selected for live telecast by the SEC Network. Kickoff time is set for 12:21 p.m. EST at Commonwealth Stadium.
