LEXINGTON, Ky. — Ethan Settlemires posted a 591 in air rifle and Henri Junghänel totaled a team-best 595 in air rifle to lead the Kentucky rifle team to a 4678-4563 win over UT Martin, on Sunday at UK’s Barker Hall.

“I am happy for the team that they stayed consistent in terms of the team score pushing close to a 4680,” UK head coach Harry Mullins said. “At this point in the season we have had some struggles but other team members stepped up and that says a lot about our team. We are looking forward to our first road trip to see if we can perform at this level at the road. Overall, this weekend we learned a lot and we can’t wait to get back out there on the road.”

Kentucky (5-0) continued the strong start to the season with the win over UT Martin, also besting Ohio State and N.C. State on Saturday at Barker Hall. UK opened the season with wins over Murray State and Army last weekend.

The Wildcats were led by Junghänel’s 595 in air rifle, with Settlemires totaling a 591 in air rifle. UK’s best smallbore score came from sophomore Heather Greathouse, who charted an impressive 588. Settlemires finished with a 580 in smallbore and a 586 in air rifle. Katie Fretts finished with a 586 in air rifle. Freshman Emily Holsopple totaled a 576 in smallbore and a 577 in air rifle.

UK will return to action on Friday and Saturday, traveling to Fort Worth, Texas, to face TCU on Friday and Nebraska on Saturday.
