LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s tennis team completed a successful day at the Land Rover Napa Valley Tennis Classic, getting wins from No. 8 Eric Quigley and No. 32 Alex Musialek on Saturday. The tournament is being played at the Meadowood Resort in St. Helena, Calif.

Quigley, ranked eighth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason singles poll, posted his second win of the weekend, beating Carlos Cueto of California 7-6 (5), 6-2. Quigley, a native Pewee Valley, Ky., sits in good position to win his group as the only player in group one who currently has two wins. The junior will face Raymond Sarmiento from USC on Sunday at 12:15 p.m. ET. With a win against Sarmiento, Quigley will advance to the single-elimination portion of the tournament.

Musialek is ranked 32nd in the ITA preseason singles poll, carded his first win of the weekend, defeating USTA junior Marcos Giron 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Musialek, who plays Vasko Mladenov at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, also sits in good position to possibly grab his group title with all four members in the group having only one win.

UK sophomore Anthony Rossi and freshman Maks Gold came up short in their matches Saturday, with Rossi falling 6-4, 6-1 to USTA junior Mitchell Frank and Gold losing to No. 102 JT. Sundling from USC. Rossi will square off with Jonathan Dahan from Cal at 12:15 p.m. ET Sunday. Dahan is replacing the injured Pedro Zerbini in the tournament. Gold will take on No. 26 Dennis Nevolo of Illinois at 1:30 p.m. ET.

The 32-man field is split into eight pools, featuring three collegians and a junior in each pool. Following three matches in pool play, the eight pool winners will compete in a single-elimination, 10-point tiebreak tournament. The winner of the tournament will receive an Untied States Tennis Association-sponsored wild card into a USTA Pro Circuit event that is yet to be determined.
